Zilker has a neighbor. Barton Hills, like Zilker, is neighbors with Zilker Park. While building began in the 40s, Barton Hills was put on the map, so to speak, in 1956 when Barton Hills was tagged one of the “largest air-conditioned suburbs in the world” for that year’s Austin Parade of Homes. On the east side, Barton Hills is bordered by Robert E Lee and Rabb Roads. North, west and south, the neighborhood is bordered by park and greenbelt. Residents enjoy easy access to Zilker Park and Barton Springs and the amenities that come with those areas. Barton has easy access to both the Mo-Pac and 290/71 freeways.

Additionally, the neighborhood is home to the highly-regarded Barton Hills Elementary School.
