Tarrytown Homes and Real Estate
Tarrytown is a residential neighborhood located just west of downtown Austin. Architectural gems from days gone by can be found in this neat and clean neighborhood with lush foliage and mature trees. If you find the home you love in Tarrytown, grab it and hang on! This kind of Old Austin can’t be duplicated in new developments. (Scroll down to read more)

More About Tarrytown
Tarrytown is one of Ausitn’s most beloved central neighborhoods. Located between 35th Street and Lake Austin Boulevard, Tarrytown is not only a convenient community but close to some of Austin’s great attractions. Along the east border of Tarrytown is MoPac, making this a convenient spot for downtown Austin. Running just to the west of Tarrytown is “Lake Austin” or the Colorado River. This feature has become a coveted aspect of central Austin living.
Tarrytown Homes
Homes in this area range in variety of age and style. In recent years some of the older and smaller homes have been removed to make way for newer developments. Some residents protested this change and some accepted the modernization in stride. Some of these homes date back to the 1930’s and aspects such as newer kitchens, extra bathrooms and garages have become important to the modern day buyer. Therefore many of the homes in this area have undergone a facelift. Tarrytown experienced a growth in the 1950’s and 60’s. Therefore there are homes that reflect the mid century era. In all you’ll see a good variety of historic cottages, contemporary modern and some grand estates. Because of its proximity to the the University of Texas, much of Enfield and Exposition is home to the general population of UT. Many students flock to this section of Tarrytown because of the bus routes and city dwelling apartments.
Tarrytown Community Attractions
The west part of Tarrytown includes Scenic Drive. This is one of my favorite areas in Austin for taking a stroll. Some of Austin’s most beautiful and unique homes are along this path, many of them overlooking the Colorado River, also known as Lake Austin. The south border of Tarrytown is Lake Austin Boulevard. This is where popular hot spots such as Maudies, Magnolia Cafe, Hula Huts and many others call home. In the center of Tarrytown is the Casis shopping center where many residents gather for coffee, grocery shopping and lunch. The shopping center is accross from Casis Elementary and the Public Library making this a center point for many Tarrytown community events.
