Homes in Hemphill Park are all unique with many reminiscent of bungalows found in the Midwest. Many were built for professors at the University of Texas in the early half of the 1900s. Brick, stucco, and frame homes and cottages will all be found here. Many have been restored, while some have been divided up into apartments because of the demand for student housing. These homes now fetch very high prices because of their close-in location, trees, and their unique architectural styles. Walk down the streets and you can almost imagine you’re in the Midwest with its old-fashioned neighborhoods reminding you of picket fences and apple pie. (Scroll down to read more.)

Hemphill Park Location
Centered around the actual Hemphill Park, this area is often called Hyde Park, which is actually to the north a few blocks. Guadalupe is immediately to the west and Speedway is to the east. The University of Texas is just a few blocks to the south.
Hemphill Park area Amenities
Hemphill Park homes are near “The Drag” with all of its cafes, coffee houses, and restaurants. Breed Hardware, Texas French Bread, Four Sons Cleaners, and Wheatsville CoOp are within walking distance as well as other unique Austin establishments. This is the place to live if you want to get away from corporate shopping and dining. One of my favorite things to do is to walk in this neighborhood because you can vary your route each time and see different things. It’s never boring here.
