Travis Country, first environmentally planned neighborhood
Diving south on Mopac (Loop 1) you will come eventually to Southwest Parkway and taking a left will get you to a quiet community nestled in the southwest area of Austin, Texas called Travis Country. This neighborhood is known as the first environmentally planned neighborhood. It has a variety of homes from the 80’s to new homes. Travis Country is run by a governing Community Service Association which is a non profit corporation formed to provide for the preservation and architectural control of the residence lots, operation and maintenance of the Common Areas, and the promotion of the health, safety and welfare of the residents. It has six official committees which include an Architectural, Communications, Grounds, Pool, Social and Tennis Committees. Some of the annual events include a July 4th Parade and Block Parties through-out the year. The neighborhood Association even has its own newsletter distributed every month called Travis Country Community Service Association. The neighborhood has a nine member Board of Directors which are elected by the residents. The names and numbers of current Board members may be obtained by calling the TCCSA office at 512-892-2256. Board meetings are open to the residents.
Travis Country was developed in 1972-1973, long before there were Mopac overpasses or even a Southwest Parkway. The streets and homes were developed in harmony with the winding greenbelts that still surround the neighborhood. Even the street names were selected to reflect the neighborhood’s origin. Since that time, priority has been given to preserving residents a place to live where it’s always good to be home! Today there are over 1500 homes in Travis Country, all of which enjoy its natural beauty and resources as well as array of recreational amenities.
Residents are served by two amenity areas.
