Living in Milwood

Print this blog entry Send this blog entry to a friend

In the late 1960's several Austin builders got together and drew up plans to develope a large track of land northwest of downtown Austin.  Back then the northwest area of Austin was pretty much undeveloped and the city limits ended at what is now Anderson lane.  In fact even Anderson lane was a gravel road during much of the 60's.

What these builders created was far beyond even what they could have anticipated would happen to this area when they finished building and begin selling the 1200 or homes in the subdivision they named "Milwood".

Today Milwood and its sister neighborhood "Walnut Crossing" is situated at one of the most desirable spots in Austin.  Bordered by Mopac on the East, Parmer Lane on the North and Duval Road on the South almost everything you could possible need is within 15 driving minutes time.  Two hospitals, premier schools, shopping galore in the new "Domain" and the Arboretum,  movies, top notch restaurants and very nice homes that are still affordable.

I've lived in Milwood since 1982,  if you are looking for a great area to live and raise a family you owe it to yourself to check out the Milwood area.
