Do you want to live on Lake Travis in Austin, TX? There are many homes available on Lake Travis but I am only going to talk about the homes in and around Jonestown and Lago Vista. This area is what we call Lake North or North Shore.  In these small, quaint towns that skirt Austin and the lake, there are 14 luxury properties over $1 million dollars.  I found this very intriguing and decided to see how the rich and famous live and why their homes cost over $1,000,000.

 

What makes a home in this price point?  Well, they are all over 3,000 sq. ft.  They all are waterfront properties, they all have Lake Travis and hill country views, most sit on acreage ranging from .50 to over 25 acres.  The architecture is very Mediterranean, Tuscany, Italian villas, limestone, cast stone and there is even one that looks similar to a castle with turrets.  Most are gated or they are in gated communities, so I assume that adds to the value.  Their exteriors are very stately and elegant each in their own way. They all sit off the road with nice winding drives.  The landscaping is lush and green highlighted by the multitudes of Oak trees that make the Texas Hill Country.

 

50% of the Kitchens were what I would consider Gourmet kitchens.  There were tons of storage areas, huge walk-in pantries, some Butler pantries, some built-in desks or computer niches.  A few of the upgraded or newer homes had Sub-Zeros, Commercial 6+ burner stoves w/2/3 ovens, warming plates, confection ovens and the likes, you know every chef's dream, one home even had 2 dishwashers.  There were of course granite countertops, beautiful custom tile, granite, slate backsplashes and a variety of other bells and whistles for cooking and entertaining.  Most of these 14 homes were Star Quality Luxury Homes perfect for private hide-away and retreats.  If it is entertaining you like none of these homes would let you down.

 

In Estate homes like these, there are always the best of the best when it comes to the Master Suites. Usually the size of a jr. Olympic size swimming pool, these havens are totally fit for kings, queens and the likes. High ceilings, floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows naturally overlooking the lake or hill country, some over look their pool or both. Built-ins for TVs, fireplaces for romantics, designer paint colors and out of this world bedroom set. But ease on into the Master bathrooms and that is where the real fun starts. Luxurious baths, walk-in showers for 4, multi head showers, exercise areas, bidets and magnificent walk in closets that could be literally another room.

 

Game rooms were a big thing but not as big as the outdoor kitchens.  I personally would stay there before going inside.  These outdoor kitchens had state-of-the-art grills with warming plates, separate grills for lower heat, smokers; there were ice makers, refrigerators and keg-or-raters.  To make these even more appealing to me, they were conveniently located near the pool (some had negative edge, some had heated, some had sea salt pools) and hot tubs, so you can visit, swim, eat, soak in the hot tub all while entertaining.  And of course, there's the view....
