Prehistoric Leander, Texas

Print this blog entry Send this blog entry to a friend

There are Dinosaur tracks on the riverbed of the South San Gabriel River just north of the HEB Plus on 183.  It is a nice adventure to go see the tracks and imagine a time long ago when giants walked the Earth. TakeSignal Hill to Skyview then go to the right.  Park in the cul de sac parking lot there next to the chain link fence .  The trail is right by parking lot, on north side by corner of fence. The Leanderthal Lady ( or “Leanne” ) is a prehistoric lady dug up on 1431 (became known as the Wilson-Leonard Site) and named after the nearby City of Leander.  TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) archeologists discovered her when excavating the roadway.  She was 5'3" (my heighth).  If anyone knows where she is I'd like to see her.  AND I think the public should get to see her.  She is either at Pickle Center or Harry Ransom at UT in Austin.
