Sunset Valley Farmers Market

Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at 2:41pm. 201 Views, 0 Comments.

The Sunset Valley Farmers Market is my favorite Austin area farmers market. They were established 11 years ago. The farmers market is open every Saturday from 9am until 1pm - rain or shine. It’s very “Austin” - here you will find a relaxed atmosphere with live music playing and people walking their dogs.

Vendor can only sell what they grow or produce. You can find locally grown fruits, vegetables, nuts plants, flowers, herbs, and artisan cheeses. Local ranchers sell antibiotic and hormone free chicken, beef, lamb, goat, pork, and bison. They also have vendors that prepare specialty foods from around the world - including France, Greece, Italy, Thailand, Belgium, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mexico and America. My favorite prepared food is the tamales from Oaxacan…

Entry sign at the the Davis Lane exit off Mopac. Take a right here to get into the Villages at Western OaksThe Villages at Western Oaks is a large neighborhood development in SW Austin. Bordered on the south by Circle C Ranch and on the north by William Cannon and Legend Oaks, this neighborhood is a great alternative to Circle C. It is in a prime location about 10 miles from downtown Austin. Families living in VWO have easy access to Mopac (Loop 1), IH-35 (via W. Slaughter Lane, or Mopac/290), and US 290 and the Hill Country (via FM 1826).

The Villages at Western Oaks is located near the new Arbor Trails shopping center at Mopac and William Cannon, and the new Escarpment Village at W. Slaughter and Escarpment Blvd. Other shopping centers, grocery stores and eating places (inclouding the new Southpark Meadows center at W. Slaughter and I-35) can easily be found…

Round Rock, Tx has the best Tex-Mex restaurant

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 at 12:32pm. 100 Views, 0 Comments.

This blog written by Suzanne Gantner. People that know me, know I like Mexican food.  I am an avid enchilada fan and am always on the search to find the perfect one.  As hard as I look and sample, I always come back to Rio Grande.  It is a locally owned and run restaurant located in Round Rock and in Hutto (a nearby town). And I promise it just doesn't get any better.

My husband and I eat there at the minimum of 2 times a week, sometimes more.  I know the menu well and I promise everything on it is awesome.  My favorite is the Las Blancas, one chicken, one cheese enchilada smothered in a delicious sour cream gravy. Sides are authentic Mexican rice and charro beans in a heavy broth that has a jalapeno/bacon bite to it.  Next favorite is the Chile Reinno…

Sun City Del Webb, Georgetown, Texas

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 at 12:06pm. 335 Views, 0 Comments.

Living is easy at Sun City in Georgetown, Tx.  If you want to play tennis, swim all year anytime in a variety of pools, play a round of golf on one of the 3 courses, hike and bike on meandering trails then this vibrant community is for you.  Anything you want to do and any club you can imagine is available here.

You have to be over 55 to live there, but I hear they are relaxing that restriction some. Still it is an active Senior community.....emphasis on the word Active.  I have never seen so many activities, events, dinners, wine tastings, parties in my life !!

Georgetown, once a sleepy town, gained notoriety when Sun City moved in 10 or so years ago.   Because of the increase in population, there has been multiple new shopping areas built which includes…

Schlitterbahn Waterpark

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008 at 10:23am. 137 Views, 0 Comments.

I took my kids to Schlitterbahn on Saturday.  I have to say everyone thought I was crazy taking them on a Saturday during the summer, with the crowd of all the others trying to cool off during these months were temperatures top at around 100°.  We had a great time.  And much to my surprise it wasn't extremely crowded.  It’s a little expensive. For the three of us it was about $100.  But if you consider that you can bring in a cooler with food and drinks, you really save on that end.  They do carry all sorts of fast food and snacks but like all theme park it's pricey.  I would rather bring snacks that are a little healthier any way.  We stayed in one of the smaller parks with a kiddie area for my daughter to hang out in most of the day. It was great they…

Living and Buying in East Austin

Saturday, June 21st, 2008 at 4:44pm. 122 Views, 0 Comments.

East Austin is one of the areas of Austin that is in its prime eras. It is close to downtown, and offers and quick and painless commute to anywhere in the city as well as the surrounding towns. There are parts of east Austin that are going to be favorable than others, simply because of resale value, and location. Like so many already know about real estate its location, location, location! That is the trick to buying and selling in this area, if you are trying to fix and flip. Some parts have already started to be rebuilt, and the transition is apparent. You see older homes that have been remodeled in some areas, while others are new construction, both of which are very much welcome by the city. East Austin is an area that will continue to go up in value,…
