With so many amenities available for the residents right in their subdivison it's hard to ever leave Block House Creek. The entrance to Block House is just between the Cedar Park and Leander city limits and is marked by a elegant granite entrance.
Back in September 2009, I wrote a blog indicating that Block House Creek is Changing. I wrote this after I received a letter from the Mud Board saying a survey would be mailed to residents to choose which we wanted for our mailing address, Cedar Park or Leander. Block House Creek is a subdivision in Leander, Texas off 183, 30 minutes northwest of downtown Austin located close to the new 1890 Ranch Shopping Center and Movie Theater, 183A and the New Metro Rail Station.This neighborhood is a DR Horton subdivision with approx. 2,500 homes. When I moved to Block House Creek 20 years ago, I wondered why it had a Leander address. It is not in a city but in Williamson County. I knew that it was in the Cedar Park Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ), but did not have a Cedar Park address. The Municipal Utility District sent out surveys to all residents about fifteen years ago asking if we would prefer to have a Cedar Park address rather than Leander since Cedar Park will annex Block House Creek one day. I like Block House Creek because it has so many amenities. There are two pools, five parks, the historical Walker House and the Pavilion where families and friends gather for food and fun. I also like all the sport courts and the X Park. It is fun to walk along the creek and see all the waterfalls. Block House Elementary school allows the kids to walk or ride their bikes to school. I recently decided to go bike riding in Block House Creek. I never knew that they had a BMX bike course with tons of jumps. A friend and I decided to try out the course and well, we both fell a few times. There were a ton of kids mostly around the ages of 10-15 riding bikes as well. Block House Creek is a master planned community in Leander, Texas. It is a beautiful community with large oak trees, lots of green areas and it has 5 parks.It is also an historical site due to Fort Tumlinson having been in this location. The subdivision of Block House Creek has what's called Movies on the Green where on certain Friday nights they will show movies for families to come and watch. Just one other way that parents are able to save money this summer in the subdivision of Block House Creek that has so many amenities. As you turn into block House you soon learn that the main road makes a big circle around the entire subdivison. You truly feel that you've entered into a gated subdivision, the landscaping and fencing are always in tip top shape. The Block House Creek subdivision has two pools that are heated during cold weather, a basketball court, playground, sand volleyball court, multiple parks, baseball field, disc golf course, and hike and bike trails.
